COMPILATION OF MODERN BUSINESS CORRESPONDENCE
The article analyzes the rules for compiling modern German-language business correspondence. It is established that business correspondence as a genre of the official-business style of the German language is undergoing a number of changes that allow us to assert its intermediate position between the official business and the epistolary styles. While preserving such characteristics of the official business style as accuracy, clear structuring (the presence of permanent structural elements, their sequence, a certain number of missing lines between structural elements, especially meaningfully important), use of certain terminology (economic, legal, technical and which is characterized primarily by extensive use, and therefore understandable) and typical abbreviations (both lexical and common in business correspondence graphic abbreviations), the signs of the epistolary style were revealed in German business correspondence: individuality, rejection of impersonality (transition from passive constructions to active ones) and formal language use, friendly tone (due primarily to the attached lexical elements with a previously unrequited subjective and emotional coloration), live style of communication (absence of the conditional sentences), brevity in order to save time (due to the refuse to use descriptive forms of the verb in favor of its simple forms, from complex multicomponent words, such typical of the German language, the diminution of the role of prepositions for creating a nominal style, the predominance of simple sentences). These changes are primarily due to a change in professional relations – the rejection of excessive officiality and the understanding of business relations as friendly human coexistence. Not the least role in such changes is played by respect for the shortage and time saving in professional activity.
